more taylor madness
and the obsession continues…
check out this video. It’s a song called The Best Day and it’s the sweetest song ever.
It’s weird how some songs grow on you.
Songs that you initially found was just OK… but after listening to it a few times you suddenly can’t stop.
Of course there are also songs you love right from the first time you heard it and you learn it back to front and after a couple of weeks you just get totally sick of it, but you still don’t mind if they play that song in a shopping mall or something because a good song will always be a good song no matter how sick you are of it. *breathe* long sentence. haha!
Then there’s the random obsession over one music artist for the longest time. There was Michelle Branch a while back, then Alicia Keys, and now Taylor Swift.
I can’t help but notice they’re all girls. Talented, beautiful girls and I long to be just like them, but it’s obvious it’ll never happen as we all live different lives. I’m on my way (hopefully) to become a boring pharmacist one day. While their lives are about good music, and lots of glitz and glamour… kind of.
Ok i also obsess over talented guys like Jay Chou and WANG LEE HOM! *swoon* but they’re guys so it’s a different story. I can never really be exactly like them cuz theyre guys…
k. end of story. class time soon…

I wanted to title this post- ‘the end of holidays’
But that just sounded very depressing, so I tried a slightly more positive way of saying it. I Hope.
Thursday
Gorge wildlife park, Toy Factory and Whispering wall. Places that I’ve been wanting to visit for a while, and Finally managed to go. With 23 other people!
I Really hate planning events for MySA but once the event takes place and when things go as planned, or even better than planned, there’s this amazing sense of pride and satisfaction that just swells up inside
you. But then there’s always the post-event things like money, new members and all that that needs to be sorted out which kinda sucks. Then again its not directly my job
I HELD A KOALA. I mean, how awesome is that. Koalas are officially the Cutest animals on earth. OK. maybe nothing beats puppies but koalas are definitely on top. And they chew on eucalyptus leaves when you’re holding on to them so they actually smell nice! and they’re so soft… and ah… i want one. their claws are painful though. >< i had on this really thin blouse and it just went straight through. OWww! but their cuteness definitely makes up for it. the
y’re forgiven…. you can’t be mad at a koala…
ah so fat so fat! time to diet...
I climbed the biggest rocking horse in the world! And got a little certificate that says: “This is to certify that on the 23rd July 2009 Laurane Lim has climbed to the top of The Biggest Rocking Horse in the World at The Toy Factory” *Insert BIG grin* =D
the 2 black silhouettes up there... that's kavi and i :D
see, they're sooo far away! and i can still hear them talking
almost gossiped about ppl across the other side then vi reminded me they can hear me!
I also spoke (not shouted!) to some people who were really far away from me without any form of technology! haha. ok. uh… the whispering wall.
Friday
Went to Vietnamese restaurant with Jo and YK. Rolls were good! But the rest of the stuff was just ok. Need to thank the girls for keeping me company that night for a while though. The last friday before uni starts again and I WASN’T WORKING! so I really didn’t want to stay home, and it was nice to just go out for dinner…
Saturday
Ballroom dance has once again started! So yeah… good fun. Then went for cake and lemon & lime bitters at Scoozi.
Came home and fixed a new set of strings onto my guitar after finding a ‘how to’ video online. It’s still constantly out of tune :S But im hoping its cuz they’re new strings so will take a while to completely extend..
Had work that night. One of the shortest saturday night shifts I’ve ever done on a saturday night (3h30mins…) but one of the worse shifts… I hate those weird in-the-middle-of-no-where shifts… Ended up doing lots of little odds and ends… random stuff like filling up the ice dispensing machines… that damn ice bucket so heavy. Changed bins in the dining area (4 gigantic bins which are over fillling~) mopped the floors… did lots of cleaning… topping up stuff… generally getting the place ready for the post-midnight rush. And the worst thing that night- cleaning up PUKE. UGH. seriously. It was only 10pm and ppl are PUKING already. eeugh. So yah. Since I was already doing random tasks around the restaurant It was my job to clean that up.
Sunday
Final day of the holidays. I’ve been planning to go cycling for a while… but I’ve been working late on sat nights… and ppl aren’t free on sundays and all that so Finally managed to go today
some of the slower, less 'canggih' ones...
Never trust Adelaide’s weather forecast. Yesterday it said ‘easing showers’ and this morning it said ’showers’ But we head out and all we got was a 3 minute light drizzle and no more rain. YAY!
So i borrowed a bike from Adelaide City Council cuz they’re awesome and we get to borrow bikes for free. Went cycling with YS who brought me to the parks in the south (Since the bf went somewhere else with her bf i’m assuming and JW wasn’t feeling well). Finally found out where the japanese garden was. A Small, but Very pretty little garden with a pond and all that. (no pictures! ah!!!) Continued cycling and we came across a ‘Pedal Prix’ going on! Basically… racing of those pedal cars… the different teams had different designs and all. You got some who just WHIZZ past us and they look super high tech with streamline designs and all that, but there was also less fancy ones which move a lot slower… haha.
So that’s it. And we’ve got only a few hours left before a whole new semester starts again.
And my room is still in a nightmare state and my notes are still all over the place and my laundry still hasn’t been folded and I still haven’t read my lecturer’s emails…
Ever heard a song that was so beautiful your heart aches? It’s the weirdest thing. I had the same feelings with Debussy’s Clair de Lune too… But anyway, I was youtube-ing and came across this song…
It’s called River Flows In You by Yiruma… If i’m not mistaken. Apparently it was listed as part of the Twilight Soundtrack but wasn’t played in the movie…? or something of that sort.
There’s sheet music attached to this link too. Which now makes me wish I had a piano to try it out. If ANYONE knows anywhere where I can play a piano for say… about an hour. Can you please bring me there? I’d LOVE YOU very very much!
Seriously. I just can’t trust them. AARRGGH!!
I’m going to follow his advice.
1) Give directions 2) Follow up. Remember… 1)Give directions, then 2) Follow up. I’m trying…
but you have no idea how many phone calls I had to make today. Following up would be easy if people do as they’re told, if all I had to do was call and check and get an ‘A-ok. All done’, if people actually LET ME KNOW when things aren’t going as planned.
Unfortunately only some people understand the concept of doing as they’re told, using commonsense and COMMUNICATION.
Was it really this frustrating when you were in my position?
There was a meeting with the rest of the malaysian associations in Adelaide today regarding the organising of the Malaysian Carnival and the Merdeka Dinner.
I have to say I really look up to the MASCA reps. They know how to hold events, and hold meetings. Things seem to get done, which is brilliant. They come to meeting having pre-planned an agenda. Committee members come in with all the information we need for the meeting to run smoothly and make any important decisions. Every one seems to be proactive and actually WANT to be involved. I wish we had the same system here with MySA but unfortunately that’s far from reality. I don’t understand why some people decide to join the committee when they don’t really have the time or are just not interested in helping out. Don’t get me wrong, I know some things are hard to predict and sometimes things come up that you really don’t have control over. But I’m sure we tried making it clear to everyone before they got involved that it is a big committment and people have to be willing to make sacrifices.
Then again, sometimes it shouldn’t even be called ’sacrifices’ because you’re involved because you wanted to be involved and hence any tasks that you have been delegated to do should be considered an opportunity rather than ‘work’. I really don’t enjoy being the one person who is actually worrying about every event we plan. Having to chase up every single person on the committee to make sure things are actually getting done just makes me ‘The Bitch’. It seems like I’m getting the easy job delegating tasks asking people to do things when I’m not doing anything myself. Maybe it is easier than what the others have to do… but I have been given this job, so this is what I have to do. I sometimes wish I was a better leader. Someone who can really bring everyone together, and make things happen without having to worry about something going wrong 24/7 especially in days following up to an event. But I happen to have limits to my abilities… and at the moment this is all I’m capable of, so bear with me while I try my best.
It’s been half a year, and while things always finally get done I feel the process of getting to that final end point has always been a struggle. It would be so much easier if everyone in the committee feels the same level of responsibility that some of us already do. At least just be contactable! I’ve given up reminding people to check emails and as we all carry a handphone around, I don’t see why it’s so difficult.
Hopefully for the rest of the events to come, those who are involved in them would actually BE involved and do the best they can.
Taylor Swift is 19? NINETEEN. wow.
I just watched her duet on youtube. The one with Miley Cyrus at the grammys. The song’s called ‘Fifteen’. I think she’s a brilliant songwriter. I wish I could write, sing, and play like she does. Play the guitar I mean. Did I mention she’s also gorgeous?
Oh well, we can’t have everything.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Xj8RrIpiiQ I like this video. Definitely better choice of Guy than the Love Story video
Oh yea btw i watched harry potter on wednesday. I can’t believe it’s already sunday night… What happened to my week? it just disappeared…
Anyway I loved the movie. I could watch it over again. I think I might actually watch it again ![]()
Hello all! im back in Adelaide.
Sydney was good. I can’t say it was AMAZING, but it was definitely a good trip. Did lots of stuff. Every day was packed to the brim, so it was good
Will write more another time i guess…
Going to sleep now. Good night!
I’ve literally gained a whole 5.5kgs since April.
So much for losing the weight and KEEPING IT OFF.
I was so proud for losing all that weight when I got back from Spore early this year. For two whole months I was a very healthy 4kgs less person. But since my birthday and the mid semester holidays in April, I’ve just been eating and eating and ‘exercise’ no longer belonged in my vocabulary.
The exam period was the worst (with all the snacking and eating habits I mean). And it got so bad I was afraid to stand on the weighing scale.
Tonight I was in front of the mirror and I realised what a big fat doublechin I had and finally decided it’s time to slap myself in the face and get on that scale.
I really shouldn’t have. I want to go to Sydney and eat all the good food I’ve been hearing people talk about and there’s no way I’m going to miss Max Brenners this time round!
To make matters worse I’m meeting my friends from High school. These are people who have known me when I weighed 49kg. Yes, there was a time when I weighed a very healthy 49kg and it wasn’t very long ago. OK well maybe quite long. But I haven’t grown at all (that is, in terms of height).
I’m a fatty and a shorty.
I just added the song over a week ago and it’s already on top of my ‘play count’ list. And still I’m not sick of it.
Eh Eh.. There’s Nothing Else I Can Say.
