I’m quite shocked really. It’s strange how much of an impact K-pop has had on the world. Just this weekend there was a massive concert in Los Angeles USA!

Oh and what surprised me most was the number of GUYS in that mob. I think its because of SNSD/Girls Generation. Haha.

If only the Malaysian music industry can do the same…

OMG i was going to die of happiness when I received the email yesterday but thinking about it freaks me out a little cuz at the moment it’s just an EMAIL. No hard copy, printed, actual, Letter, and i haven’t signed anything so I’m still very uneasy about it all. Maybe there’s a second round interview from the hospital itself….?

So yah. *fingers still crossed* until i actually sign something legitimate.

ok maybe it doesn’t have to be a mind-boggling blow-away performance but a good song will do.

It all started from the english/american boyband/girlbands.

Spice Girls had “Stop right now thank you very much”… The first album I’ve ever bought (spice world) and i listened to them every night! Knew every single song from start to end.

Then there was BSB, and Blue and Westlife… ah <3

Sometime ago I went through a love for C-pop when I discovered Jay Chou with songs like An Jing and Jian Dan Ai that my friends introduced. Then S.H.E turned out to be better than I expected too. love the songs Conie passed to me a while ago.

I went through a rock/punk/punkrock?? phase once and at one point Greenday, Simple Plan, Good charlotte was all I listened to. Oh and then there’s avril lavigne too.

Then there’s the randoms~ Taylor Swift caught my attention from Teardrops on My guitar. That’s just the first song I heard from her and love love loved it. and turns out every other track she churns up is also amazing. Alicia Keys was amazing back from the days when she sang Falling. It was the piano that caught my attention really…

Then there’s the jazzy, blue-sy, bossa nova, reggae, and other relaxing tunes from Jason mraz, Michael buble, Norah jones where their songs were all i played all day all night… Oh even Kang-Ta was in that mix cuz he had an album with a few blues type songs.

Then since this year I got into the K-pop craze which is really quite weird since I never saw myself as a K-pop lover. But you never know, songs GROW on you. I remember how much i HATED ’sexy back’ when i heard it on the radio for the first time…

‘Love Like This’ from SS501 was super catchy and that got me hooked although that craze is kind of going away now~ although i still love some of their newer songs. Then came along the acapella version of ‘HA HA HA’ that I randomly stumbled across on youtube  by DBSK (!) and they were amazing and I’ve been hooked on them since. probably the most talented boyband ive came across so far. And then I checked out other bands like 2PM, Super Junior, BigBang, and girl bands like 2NE1, Girls Generation… i have to say 2NE1 has a couple of really good dance songs.

Anyway, then one day I found this:

anyway, the guy on the far left, that’s Onew. I love love love his voice. The guy on the far right is Key. He’s such a diva sometimes, it makes me question his sexuality. But i love his part at ~1:26-1:31. The second from the left is Taemin, and he’s super young born in uh… ‘93?? he can’t sing. (sorry ><) but he’s an amazing dancer. Jonghyun next to him- who totally went off key at about 2:50 :S but hes not bad really… and finally there’s actually another member, MinHo but he’s not in the video. kinda sad actually since this my favourite song from everything they’ve done and it’ll be nice to have it done as a whole group. I even like this live version more than the CD version cuz the recorded version had like digital alterations to their voice which is such a waste.

I found yiruma’s scores online. I mean like, the whole book. I was roaming around music outlets in singapore trying to look for them and i couldn’t find any! Well, I probably didn’t know where to look in the first place :S so i had to make do and be happy with the only 2 songs i could find online. but then today I found the whole book! They’re about AUD28 which is pricey-ish, They’re usually quite expensive anyway. But heck, i would pay $50 bucks for it if i had to. I REALLY WANT IT! (plus its currently on promotion, i’m not sure whether its the website’s promotion so its ALL the time or just for now…?)

and if i buy over $33 on that website i get free shipping so I was so close to putting this on facebook to ask if anyone else wants the book.

Then i thought about it a bit more and realised whats the point of me getting the book here now?? It’s not like I can play it… i dont have a friggin piano. All i’ll end up doing is flipping through it going even crazier than i am now that I can’t try them out. And at the end of the year lets just say, by any chance, that i’m moving back for good, I don’t want to have to lug another book back because it’ll be heavy and i’d already have more than i pack!

So i’m now sitting here being very very sensible and trying very hard not to click *purchase* and put down my credit card details….

must… wait… till… i… have… a… piano…!

or until im back home.

I tried just closing my eyes and trying to fall asleep. But that didn’t work. So I took out my phone. I looked through pictures, I watched videos, I listened to songs, I played games, I even went through and edited my contacts list for a bit.

Then i turned on the camera light on my phone and played with shadows for a while. That was something new… When my hands got tired, I gave up and tried to sleep again.

I was feeling cold. Then too hot. Then both at the same time. It was just extremely uncomfortable.

My nose was stuffy. Then it was clear. I sneezed about 10 times in between those changes. I had to use two pillows because a flat bed made it harder to breathe. But I’m not a 2 pillow person. I like flat pillows. It was uncomfortable.

I was getting really tired by then, but somehow my brain was still racing with thoughts. I thought of everything from the past, to the present to the possible future. I was really restless. My body wouldn’t stay still.

It was about 5:30am when I decided to write this on my phone. I had to be up by 8am today…

Crap ending. Didn’t like it.

So now I’m moving on to the next book that my sister recommended called Wings. Hopefully that’s good.

Since the interview with MOHH on the 2nd of August I’ve had about three dreams about the outcome. And I can tell you this- It wasn’t good. The thing about bad dreams is that if they repeat, it tends to be exactly the same… Well this time it was different. Different email contents and different people involved but in the end of the day- same one conclusion: Thank you, but application unsuccessful.

I’m still keeping my fingers crossed.

So here’s the thing.

I’m hopeless when it comes to guys. I never know what to say. I was at work on Saturday night doing an overnight shift from 11 to 6am. So It was about 4-5am when I just got back from my break and was put in the dining room to clean up… I was sweeping the floor… when this guy comes up to me, obviously having had lots to drink, but not completely drunk, and says something along the lines of, “Hi. I can’t help but notice you. I was wondering if I can take you out one day for a drink or something.”

So there I was completely stunned because- What the hell? I’m working. Wearing a stupid cap and uniform and glasses and probably having an oily face because it’s been a busy night, and he comes up and says something like that. (I was out on friday night all dressed up and all we got was a gross grindy guy who wanted to dance with all of us girls. =.=”) He was there with some friends and I was thinking “crap he’s making fun of me. His friends probably had him on a dare or something” I wish I had something witty and mean to say back just to brush him off but as expected, nothing came to mind. Blank. So I just looked at him and said no. and he’s like “oh come on why not? At least let me have your number.” And I told him I don’t give numbers to strangers and I’m working. Then he said “OK I don’t need your number, I can just pick you up right here right now. So how about a drink someday?” and I said “No.” And then he asked “Is there any reason why not? Am I just too ugly for you? (or something like that)” I was so tempted just to lie say something like I’ve got a boyfriend, cause no, he wasn’t dead ugly. But I’m a sucky liar and the words just wouldn’t come out. So i just said “no” and shook my head again like an idiot who doesn’t know how to speak english. And finally he gave up and he said “Aw, that’s a shame, you’re really pretty. Let me know if you change your mind.” and went back to his friends. Later that night, when they were about to leave and I walked past them (now mopping the floor) he said “It was nice to meet you. Such a shame we didn’t get more acquainted. Have a good night”

Honestly, What was that all about?? What would you have done??? (A bit of advice would be good then next time I won’t feel so embarrassed and tongue tied cuz this isn’t the first time it’s happened at work…)

Then today I opened a chocolate bar (one of those full sized bars mind you…) and ate. And before I knew it, half was gone.

From an amateur baker, I’d like to say a few things.

1) Experience is everything. Simply following a recipe doesn’t always cut it. So many things come from experience. What’s ‘light and fluffy’? How to you properly ‘fold’ things in? How do i pour mixture into a pan without it being lopsided and curvy when baked? Does it taste right?

2) It’s never a good idea to try a new recipe for the first time when baking for others. So many things can go wrong. But with some luck, you’ll get something edible.

3) Whipped cream- If using as cake icing, try not to over-whip. And when adding colours- UNDER WHIP it. Because the colour needs to be mixed in. And when mixing the cream gets whipped up more. And you’ll end up with rough, tough, over-whipped cream. Ugh. I learnt this today. And even when I tried it the second time round, I messed up.

4) The recipe isn’t always correct. See number 1.

5) Eating cakes you make yourself always tastes different than cakes other people bake. Or maybe i just bake lousy buttery cakes and people are too kind to tell me it’s crap.

Anyway, those were the thoughts running through my head when I made Marina a cake for her birthday. End product was something I was pretty proud of anyway even though I messed up in so many places. Here’s a couple of shots of the finished product- White Chocolate Buttermilk cake!

By the time It reached the restaurant with all the transporting and shifting of the container… there were a number of gaping HOLES (where the cakes joined) and the cover messed up some of the side icing! :’( *cry*
