Was K-Pop always this big?? Or has it just exploded in the past year??
Check this out.
This is Singapore Orchard Road. <– click for the full story. That’s where I got the picture from too.
In summary: “Korean Pop Night Concert 2010 will be held at the Singapore Expo Hall on October 23rd, and will feature the artists SNSD, Big Bang, FT Island, INFINITE, SHINee, and D-NA.”
And these people are queuing for tickets!
I’m quite shocked really. It’s strange how much of an impact K-pop has had on the world. Just this weekend there was a massive concert in Los Angeles USA!
Oh and what surprised me most was the number of GUYS in that mob. I think its because of SNSD/Girls Generation. Haha.
If only the Malaysian music industry can do the same…
I don’t want to jinx it but I might actually have gotten myself a job in Singapore!!!
OMG i was going to die of happiness when I received the email yesterday but thinking about it freaks me out a little cuz at the moment it’s just an EMAIL. No hard copy, printed, actual, Letter, and i haven’t signed anything so I’m still very uneasy about it all. Maybe there’s a second round interview from the hospital itself….?
So yah. *fingers still crossed* until i actually sign something legitimate.
I don’t know about you guys, but a lot of times, just One blow-away performance from an artist captures my attention and I can’t stop loving them.
ok maybe it doesn’t have to be a mind-boggling blow-away performance but a good song will do.
It all started from the english/american boyband/girlbands.
Spice Girls had “Stop right now thank you very much”… The first album I’ve ever bought (spice world) and i listened to them every night! Knew every single song from start to end.
Then there was BSB, and Blue and Westlife… ah <3
Sometime ago I went through a love for C-pop when I discovered Jay Chou with songs like An Jing and Jian Dan Ai that my friends introduced. Then S.H.E turned out to be better than I expected too. love the songs Conie passed to me a while ago.
I went through a rock/punk/punkrock?? phase once and at one point Greenday, Simple Plan, Good charlotte was all I listened to. Oh and then there’s avril lavigne too.
Then there’s the randoms~ Taylor Swift caught my attention from Teardrops on My guitar. That’s just the first song I heard from her and love love loved it. and turns out every other track she churns up is also amazing. Alicia Keys was amazing back from the days when she sang Falling. It was the piano that caught my attention really…
Then there’s the jazzy, blue-sy, bossa nova, reggae, and other relaxing tunes from Jason mraz, Michael buble, Norah jones where their songs were all i played all day all night… Oh even Kang-Ta was in that mix cuz he had an album with a few blues type songs.
Then since this year I got into the K-pop craze which is really quite weird since I never saw myself as a K-pop lover. But you never know, songs GROW on you. I remember how much i HATED ’sexy back’ when i heard it on the radio for the first time…
‘Love Like This’ from SS501 was super catchy and that got me hooked although that craze is kind of going away now~ although i still love some of their newer songs. Then came along the acapella version of ‘HA HA HA’ that I randomly stumbled across on youtube by DBSK (!) and they were amazing and I’ve been hooked on them since. probably the most talented boyband ive came across so far. And then I checked out other bands like 2PM, Super Junior, BigBang, and girl bands like 2NE1, Girls Generation… i have to say 2NE1 has a couple of really good dance songs.
Anyway, then one day I found this:
Introducing… SHINee! From wiki: (샤이니, stylized as SHINee, pronounced /ˈʃaɪniː/ “shiny”)
(lol their name… wish they had a better name.)
anyway, the guy on the far left, that’s Onew. I love love love his voice. The guy on the far right is Key. He’s such a diva sometimes, it makes me question his sexuality. But i love his part at ~1:26-1:31. The second from the left is Taemin, and he’s super young born in uh… ‘93?? he can’t sing. (sorry ><) but he’s an amazing dancer. Jonghyun next to him- who totally went off key at about 2:50 :S but hes not bad really… and finally there’s actually another member, MinHo but he’s not in the video. kinda sad actually since this my favourite song from everything they’ve done and it’ll be nice to have it done as a whole group. I even like this live version more than the CD version cuz the recorded version had like digital alterations to their voice which is such a waste.
I started reading that ages ago. Then I went back for the holidays so I had to return it and only a couple of weeks ago I picked it up again and continued it because I was actually interested in it. It felt like a good book. I read it little by little but by the time I got to the halfway mark I didn’t want to put it down. So I finished the second half of the book last night/this morning and when I got to the last page I felt- what a waste of time.
Crap ending. Didn’t like it.
So now I’m moving on to the next book that my sister recommended called Wings. Hopefully that’s good.
I’ve been updating my blog pretty religiously for the past few weeks. But it seems like no one’s reading it. Either that or people are reading without leaving traces of their existence.
So I’m going to do a bit of a test. I’ve never done this before, so I’m pretty freaked out, but seeing as no one comes here anyway, it should be safe. I think. I’m putting my pride and integrity on the line!
The ‘video’ below is ME ok. its not a video. It’s a recording, but my phone records better on video mode than it does on recording mode, so you get a blank video with sound… ><
It's a song called Falling Slowly taken from the movie 'Once' written and performed originally by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová. I honestly don't know who these people are, nor have I heard of the movie before. But I was on youtube and I came across this song a few times and I liked it.
So here's a short version of it.
What exactly is my test? well I was just wondering if I’d finally get some comments I posted something like this… :S
Once you’ve tried it you’ll never go back to plain ‘natural’. ><
The first time I got my hair highlighted is during the first summer break of Uni. It was quite a horrifying experience actually. I was told i needed to have my hair BLEACHED, so i did. and then given the wrong colour, then i had to re-do it again the next day to get it darker. It was a nightmare. After it all though, people said it looked good. Although I’m still rather doubtful. Anyway I got it done more professionally in the next year, and the last time I had it highlighted was probably the best.
I’m looking at my hair now and it’s grown a lot since I last got it highlighted back in December? Or was it November…? My roots are black. Plain black. Plain boring ol’ black. And the ends of my hair are a nice reddish-brown that’s brighter in the light and I wish that my entire body of hair is that colour and not just the ends >< So I think I’ll be back in the hair saloon very soon!
Question is… what colour? And should I get a haircut with it? or wait till later to get a haircut? it’s been a while since it’s grown really long… then again I realised I like shoulder length hair better than long…
Ah so indecisive. So much time spent thinking about this when I should really be thinking about more important things.
o by the time i finished my assignment last night it was 6am. So technically i should say “By the time I finished my assignment this morning…” but that sounds strange.
I got up after 1pm today, after taking my time in the shower and having ‘breakfast’ I read through the assignment again, made some changes that I was thinking about before going to bed but was too tired to do them, and finally submitted it online. *yay* minor project done. Left with the mock application to do. Silly assignment. Ugh.
Anyway, it’s currently almost 8pm, so what else have I done?
Apart from some youtube-ing and random dancing in my room (very common when I’m home alone… :P) I finally remembered to watch the movie I picked up from the library 2 weeks ago. I keep on forgetting/haven’t had the time to watch it… So I had to renew the loan twice now. Lucky for me there were no requests so I could renew it instead of having to return it without watching.
It’s a pretty old movie. It came out in 2005. A film starring Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst. As previously mentioned I’m not one to write good reviews or summaries, so here’s the snippet from the back of the DVD I’ll share with you guys.
Orlando Bloom stars in this life-affirming, heartfelt story as Drew Baylor, a hot-shot designer whose life becomes completely unraveled on one fateful day. En route to Elizabethtown to visit his family, Drew meets Claire (Kirsten Dunst). She’s beautiful, has an unstoppably positive nature and she has decided to be just the gal to guide Drew on his journey back home and to teach him what it means to live and love along the way.
Every once in a while a movie transports you to a place where heart, humour, incredible music and an unforgettable story meet… welcome to Elizabethtown
It’s not the typical romantic comedy that I usually love watching but movies like these although have a negative undertone, always end happy. Like there’s a bright light at the end of the tunnel and that’s where we’re heading. It makes you tear and laugh and go “oh no, what now?” but in the end you’re just like, “yay!” so what if life sometimes sucks, Life’s like that. Stay positive and move on.
So I’m returning Elizabethtown to the library together with my books probably on Tuesday. If you’re in Adelaide then its your turn to watch it
Note: Another plus, Orlando Bloom is a cutie. Not as cute without the long blond hair with braids down the sides and pointy ears, but still pretty cute.
This is ridiculous. It’s been 6 weeks after my first placement, and 2 weeks after my second placement, and now at 4am I’m sitting at uni only JUST finished writing them up.
Procrastination leads to stupid things like this.
This week I need to cram in my SWOT analysis, more applications, and one questionnaire with difficult questions for a location that is only offering ONE spot. Is it worth it?
Rachel: Oh, Fireflies! I'm totally obsessed with Owl City and his pretty lyrics :]
